Descrizione generale:
The shaping performed following the "a colombino" technique is a manual procedure implemented to create concave and rounded objects, such as vases and bowls.
The technique is based on the preliminary preparation of colombini, irregular clay strips with circular sections, obtained simply by rolling the clay back and forth with the palm of the hand on a flat surface. Colombini are joined together and overlapped by following the desired concave shape. The surfaces of the object are then levelled and smoothed to get rid of seam lines.
In Sardinia, the technique is used to emphasize, in particular, the manual creation of the object, highlighting irregularities in shapes and symmetries.
